Definition: It is a kind of bitumen, which is provided during the process of oxidation of vacuum bottom (the bitumen production feedstock that derives from distillation tower residue in vacuum oil refineries) at bitumen production units. In a manner that its penetration point (kind of test to indicate the hardness of bitumen) becomes between 60-70.

A grade of 60/70 bitumen means the penetration value is in the range 60 to 70 at standard test conditions which usually used as a Paving Grade. Bitumen 60/70 is applicable   for the production of asphalt pavements with superior properties and for construction and maintenance of roads. Also this grade of bitumen is mainly used in the spraying and chip applications. Penetration Grade Bitumen supplied by our company is petroleum grade bitumen, produced from fractional distillation of crude oil and vacuum residue (short residue) feedstock. Bitumen is specified by the penetration and softening point test. Designing is by penetration range only. The penetration grade bitumen has a thermoplastic property which causes the material to soften at high temperatures and to harden at lower temperatures. This unique temperature-viscosity relationship is important when determining the performance parameters such as the rheology, adhesion, durability and application temperatures of bitumen.
